Currently Certified NREMT Paramedics

NREMT has recently updated their recertification requirements. Effective immediately, all Nationally Certified EMS personnel due to recertify in 2019, or after, are required to utilize the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP).

We are currently retooling this course in order to assist EMS personnel to meet these program requirements.

Please contact us if you wish to be notified when our new course is ready.

Aspiring or Expired NREMTs

This course DOES NOT apply for NREMTs who have an expired certification or who have failed the NREMT exam three times and who must take a refresher course to retest.

* Check your state EMS Authority for any possible additional requirements.

No Exams

Because this course is being taken as C.E. there are NO EXAMS for this training. However, in lieu of exams, students must describe at least 3 objectives learned from each Module.

Students are required to explain their answer in detail. All answers must be in complete sentences and thoughts. Each learned objective must have at least 75 characters of text, with a maximum of 1000.

Additional Training

Workers must receive additional training, when required by Federal and State OSHA DOT, EPA, and any other standards that apply, on the specific hazards of their job.

California Paramedics

California Paramedics also require a current and valid Healthcare Provider CPR card.

NREMT Paramedics

NREMT Paramedics also require a current and valid Healthcare Provider CPR card and ACLS card.

Additionally, local EMS agencies, EMS Providers, and Medical Directors can establish higher standards and requirements. Please contact your EMS Agency for specific recertification requirements.

* Check your state EMS Authority for any possible additional requirements.

Refunds

Paramedic Refresher Student have 1 day to process a refund as detailed below.

Paramedic Refresher "Student's Right to Cancel"

The student has a right to cancel the enrollment agreement and obtain a refund. The institution shall, for all students, without penalty or obligation, refund 100 percent of the amount paid for the institutional charges, less a reasonable deposit or application fee not to exceed $100.00, if the notice of cancellation is made prior to or on the first day of instruction. Furthermore, the student has the right to withdraw from a course of instruction at any time. A student who has completed 60 percent or less of the course of instruction shall be granted a pro rata refund of tuition and amounts paid for returnable equipment. Books, once they have been opened, are not refundable. If the student withdraws from the program of instruction after instruction has begun, the student is obligated to pay only for educational services rendered, plus the non-refundable registration fee. Any student who withdraws after completing 60% or more of the course will not receive a refund. There will be no refund issued if student fails program or any requisite requirements. Safety Unlimited, Inc. offers a distance education program where the instruction is not offered in real time and shall transmit the first lesson and any materials to students within seven days after the institution accepts the student for admission. The student shall have the right to cancel the agreement and receive a full refund pursuant to section CCR71750 before the first lesson and materials are received. Cancellation is effective on the date written notice of cancellation is sent.

In lieu of a refund, students are allowed to reschedule the class one time as long as they contact Safety Unlimted, Inc. in writing prior to the first day of class. Keep in mind that the above refund policy applies to the original class dates of instruction, not the rescheduled dates. Students will not be eligible to receive a refund of any kind after the original class dates have passed.

Hypothetical Refund Example of Paramedic Refresher Course

A student withdraws from the program after completing 5 hours of instruction. $125.00 less $25.00 registration fee and $00.00 STRF assessment fee = $100.00 divided by 48 hourss = $4.17 hourly program charge. 5 hours X $4.17 = $20.85. $100.00 less $20.85 = $79.15 refund. This calculation does not include a refund for the books.

You must pay the state-imposed fee for the Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF) if all of the following applies to you: (1) you are a student, who is a California resident and prepays all or part of your tuition either by cash, guaranteed student loans, or personal loans; and (2) your total charges are not paid by any third-party payer such as an employer, government program or other payer unless you have a separate agreement to repay the third party. You are not eligible for protection from the STRF and you are not required to pay the STRF fee if either of the following applies: (1) you are not a California resident; and (2) your total charges are paid by a third party, such as an employer, government program, or other payer and you have no separate agreement to repay the third party.

This course requires only the most recent version of your mobile device's web browser.

Mobile Pros and Cons

Mobile versions of this sort of training are new, but below are some Pros and Cons that we have noticed during our extensive testing.

Pros

  • No computer needed
  • Tablet mobility
  • Tablet screen graphics

Cons

  • Smartphone screens can be too small to see
  • Mobile browsers react differently than computer browsers
  • Phone calls can interrupt training

During our testing we noticed that tablets work much better than smartphones, simply due to their screen size. The newer the device, the better the result. We are also aware that the course will not work on the first generation iPad, nor older Android Tablets.

Test the functionality of your browser using HTML5 and compare it to the performance of other browsers. If you find other browsers are more compatible than your own, you may want to make the switch.
